THE EXCERPT:

Chapter One - The Balcony View

Noreen & Trent

Trent’s interest was peaked so quickly that he had no time to think…only act. He stops her in mid turn again as she’d almost reached the balcony entrance and said, “Well, I’m here for a short getaway in between a business deal so, perhaps your plans may include me if you’re here alone as I…I’d love some company.” He said in one breath.

Chapter Two - The Battle of the Sexes
Sholondrah & Langston
Sholondrah is the ONLY person known to match Langston’s wit, crucial thinking and educated quick responses. For the past six years Langston has never battled her with heartfelt confident success. Their debates always derive from the same thing, The Battle of the Sexes! She'd complain about men being very confusing in what they really wanted and he'd complain about how women had no idea what they wanted even when it stared them in the face. Langston felt he was the total package and any woman blessed to graze the likes of his arm should not only be happy, but also in honor of him choosing her.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Born and raised in California, Katrina spent her early years raising a family of four beautiful children and sharing life with her loving husband. She became interested in writing during high school. Katrina's biggest dream is to create a sensual and guilt free haven for couples to enjoy the art of sensually written literature. Katrina feels that intimacy is created spiritually by God between a woman and a man through holy matrimony while respecting and honoring each other’s bodies. Currently, Katrina is working on continued volumes of The Balcony View Books. She plans to bring each character to life, leaving each reader wanting more in every volume.

Now That's It, Gosh Darn It!!!

Question of the Week: Alright! In the words of Popeye The Sailor Man – “That’s It, I’ve had all I can stand, and I can’t Stands No More!” When will the news be about something other than Tiger Woods?

Answer: It seems that the infatuation... with drama continues. This whole ordeal with Tiger Woods and his angels are playing out like a bad rash. They are all over the news, the internet and blogosphere; I believe there are more people watching him now than when he was on the greens.

Personally, I don’t care how many endorsements he loses because I still have to use the products anyway. How many of you are going to stop using AT&T or start using them? Exactly, doesn’t matter who is on the television saying that they use the product.

And how many of you have an account with Accenture because of Tiger? Accenture originated as the business and technology consulting division of accounting firm Arthur Anderson. Who in 2002 surrendered their CPA license due to being found guilty of criminal charges in relation to Enron. So I guess they are a solid representation of a strong moral fiber. (Laughing hysterically).

And then there is Gatorade, since the inception of Vitamin Water, they have been spinning their wheels, trying to get back on top of the market.

I’m not really sure how you feel about this but Tiger Woods’ financial woes are not pressing for me. When the unemployment rate in Illinois is over 10% and the housing foreclosure rate in Illinois is over 1%, Tiger Woods’ and his issues are not important. But what I have found to be important is how some media outlets have found a way to sway viewer concerns to frivolous information and away from things of major concern.

And let’s not forget about Robert Halderman, whose lawyer wrote “that if it is not a crime for Tiger Woods’ mistresses to seek payoffs for their silence, Halderman should not be charged with a crime for trying to make a deal with Letterman.” That is an ignorant outburst right there, just ignorant!

Men have been paying for the “puddy” for decades. That is Pay to Play at its finest. What Halderman was doing was extortion and is a far stretch from what Mistress #1 was doing. Ownership, needs to be grasped by all.

Tiger – You are an adulterer.

Elin - You are delusional.

Halderman – You are pathetic.

Civilization – We are clueless.

We need to worry and fix the problems in our lives and leave others alone.  “Attend your home and make it clean, through your thoughts, your words and your spirit you can influence many. Make them pure!” Excerpt from my upcoming book, Check Your Drawers.

Are you sure you're a Man?

I have had enough of boys trying to be men. Now I’m sure you want to know what I’m talking about. Well just last week, I was in a social environment and an ex acquaintance came in with his new victim of the evening. We acknowledged each other and kept moving along.

After he got full of alcohol (Problem 1) he decided, at that moment it would be a good time to approach me and have a secret conversation (Problem 2).

Did I happen to mention that I was conversing with a gentleman at the time? Well needless to say, my ex deciding to ease right behind me and whisper in my ear (Problem 3). Only to talk about how much he liked my past sexual performances (Problem 4).

Now let me address all problems with the following statement. GROW UP, BOY!!!

Real Men can control their liquor and their actions. I know that alcohol can lose any inhibitions but then why would you have inhibitions with someone you’ve been with already? I really need for the boys of the world to respect the women they are with and respect the company that I keep.

Real Men would not openly disrespect any woman they walk into an establishment with. If you are with her, be with her. You chose her so deal with the bed you made. Don’t be disrespectful because she will sense it and eventually turn bitter. She will then run up on a good man and not recognize him. She will miss her blessing because of your retarded actions. Get a clue boys if you feel you don’t have a good woman that is probably because you are not a Man. You attract what you release.

Real Men would not have to secretly talk to anybody. They would be confident in their actions. They would also have nothing to hide from because they wouldn’t be out of line.
Get a clue, you make this dating thing much harder than it needs to be with all your sneaking.

Real Men don’t have a need to talk about how well your sexual performances were. That is a dead give-away that all you want from the woman you are talking to is sex. If you can’t find anything better to talk about then you are limited in your development.

Real Men can talk about more than just sex. They also know more about life than just sex.
If I would have slapped the taste out his mouth then I would have been wrong, but at least for once I would have been satisfied. You are an EX for a reason, not a season, but for a lifetime.

Come to terms with that and move on. Real Women don’t play with other folks kids. Please let the testicles hang, walk with some pride and represent a character of undisputable decorum. If you don’t want a crackhead, then stop acting like one.

This is my opinion and you are welcome to express your own. I Dare You!

A Deadly Encounter by KR Bankston

Kr Bankston got this smash hit book series coined The Gianni Legacy. It starts with its main character Devastator aka Dezi Gianni. Who is, based on Ms. Bankston's imagery and through my eyes, tall, dark and extremely slap your momma handsome. He knows what he wants and who he wants and how he is going to get it. From love to business he is determined to be successful and respected. Never under estimate the power of this man or the ability to pull together a story like KR Bankston did.

The heroin Kayla DeWitt, is beautiful, driven and unapologetically successful. She holds the key to Devastator’s sensitive side and yet has trouble being forthcoming with her deeply rooted feelings of insecurity and fear. When the two main characters meet there are fireworks, literally and metaphorically. Their lives as cliché as it sounds won't be the same.

There are many subordinate characters that make the story interesting and the plot move. Their roles in the storyline pull at your emotions and make you want to read more. KR Bankston has done a phenomenal job not only of creating a story of love, drama, values and deception but also making the reader believe in fairytales.

This book has definitely set the tone for the rest of the trilogy that will be hard to match. However clearly reading the talents of this author, I'm positive that she won't disappoint or hold back.

If you are looking for a good book that is a page turner with sensual sex scenes, betrayal and murder add A Deadly Encounter to your library.

To Review or Not Review: That’s an Easy One

When I decided I wanted to start reviewing books, I had no idea what I was getting myself in to. But I’m glad I did.

Whether self proclaimed or taught, novice or well versed, a key to reviewing is “loving the art of reading.” I’ve never said or will say I’m an expert; however I believe like many others that... I can pick a good book.

I don’t do it for the money or the perks, (although I won’t turn them down, LOL) I do it because I have that key. From time to time I have experienced negativity from veteran reviewers. But I’m here to say I’m not in competition with other reviewers; there are way too many readers out there that need all of us to be truthful about the quality of work that is produced.

Everyone isn’t going to like my review or my review style; however, if I’m going to review and promote a book I have to experience books from a different perspective.

Being a reviewer has given me an opportunity to realize that not all thoughts are bad; that when birthed with a pen and paper the love for those words will forever connect the author with its audience.

I’ve further realized that there are tons of talented independent artist that unfortunately do not receive the recognition that they should. As their books range from; the diamonds in the rough to the pearls of wisdom, and around the encouraging gem of financial sophistication.

Genres of all areas including urban (street lit) and speculative fiction. No stone has been unturned by the independent authors.

When called upon to review a book, I’ve detailed my job to include, reading the book, critiquing the concept and the flow of the book and because I believe a positive review should receive extended coverage of the book and its writer whenever/wherever possible, promoting the book.

I can’t stress enough the surprise of talent I’ve received in the last 8 months. So I guess the reasons (more than one) I review are; because I love to clasp my hands around a good book, to network with people who are pursuing their dreams
without regret and aiding those that are doing something positive with their time and talents.

So thank you to all those that appreciate my reviews as well as those that don’t understand my flow. Thank you to all the writers that are making quality lit for the entertainment of people like me that can value a good read.

Unbeknownst - Chamsil

It is hard to write a unique story. And with that being said, most stories are not unique but with precision offer a unique perspective. Unbeknownst has done just that. Not sure if the author meant for the idea of choices to be his focal point. But right from the beginning it almost seemed clear who the main character was but as the book progressed it seemed that almost every character was the “main” character. This tale about life, choices, circumstance and accountability takes you through a whirlwind of emotions. You will cheer and be proud of in one instance and mad and horrified at another. Check out Unbeknownst at www.Iamchamsil.com and experience a pivotal tale of families who are torn apart by the choices they made.

A Ho Needs 2 Stay in a Hoe's Place - Tonja Ayers

The title alone got myself and a few other members wanting to read it. That was good. Chapter 1 and 2 were pretty entertaining and held my attention for more raw and real scenarios. The problem was that I didn't get what I wanted. As a few readers...informed me, they didn't either.

As I begin to embark on a new endeavor in   the literary field, you won't ever read a review from me bashing the craft of an artist. However I will offer a suggestion or two. For this author all I want to suggest is to keep writing you have done something so many can't, won't and probably shouldn't do.

The material will come and the reviews will become great.
